Billion Seed Challenge

#BillionSeedChallenge

The past 18 months have shown us how important our local environment is. Whether it’s our window boxes and front gardens or streets and local parks, we have all relied on our green spaces to give us space and a breath of fresh air.

In the past we might have taken our green spaces for granted, but inspired by how much we relied on them during lockdown communities across the country are coming together to make their local communities that bit better.

That’s where the idea for the #BillionSeedChallenge came from; local communities wanting to improve their area together. So this October, when all eyes will be on the international climate conference in Glasgow we are asking everyone to join us in planting a billion seeds across the UK. It’s a great way of keeping our community spirit alive and of showing we can all do our bit for the environment. But they are also a symbol of our hope that this meeting can make a difference.

Businesses, Charities, Natural Heritage Organisations, Faith Groups, Schools, and Community groups are all teaming up to ask people to do one simple thing…

…Plant a Billion Seeds Together

The Challenge is launching on 23rd September as part of Great Big Green Week. You can come together with your community anytime between then and the main event on 30th October to brighten up your local area and be part of planting a billion seeds across the country.

Get the street involved! Find a spot that needs livening up with some natural colour, brighten up your verges, parks and playgrounds! If we all do it together, we can plant a billion new seeds across the whole country which will brighten communities for years to come.

Why not have a drink or a cup of tea together afterwards, to celebrate all your hard work?
